My name is Paula Selby. I live in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, which is a suburb of Tulsa. I’m married and a mother and grandmother. My husband and I share our home with five Greyhounds, one German Shepherd and eleven parrots. Oh and we can’t forget the three Koi in our Koi pond.
I’ve been married to my husband Gordon for 31 years. We have three children, my two step-daughters, Betty Jo and JoAnne and my son Johnny. Betty Jo works for a finance company in Oklahoma City, which is about 100 miles from our home. She has a son and daughter, Branden and Brooke. Branden just got out of the Marines and move back to Mustang, Oklahoma, which is a suburb of Oklahoma City. Brooke got married this summer and she and her husband are also living in Mustang. Brooke is a full time college student at Oklahoma University, studying to be a nurse.
JoAnne is a massage therapist and lives in Oklahoma City. She also has a son and daughter, Jimmy and Jamie. Jimmy is in the Army and is recovering from burns received in an explosion overseas. He is expected to make a good recovery. Jamie is going to college and working at a bank in Oklahoma City.
Johnny works for a telecommunication company in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has two sons, 11 year old Bryce and 8 year old Blake. They recently moved back to Tulsa and live about 2 ½ miles from our home.
Gordon is a retired electrician. He worked for Tulsa Public Schools for 25 years. He retired in February, 2007 but has continued to do electrical work on the side which has kept him very busy.
I work full time for a title company as an assistant escrow officer. We close residential and commercial real estate. Although there has been a big down turn in the real estate market, Tulsa has continued to stay strong.
I have worked in this field for 32 years most of them as an escrow officer. I decided a few years ago that I no longer wanted the extra stress and responsibility that comes with that job and elected to step down to an assistant. I still work many hours and have a lot of stress but it is better than before.
I’m very lucky to still have my mother living. She lives a few miles from our home and continues to take care of my totally disabled brother. She is amazing. No one can get over how one little lady can care for him all by herself but she continues to defy all odds.
My brother became totally disabled from a brain injury he sustained in a motorcycle accident over 30 years ago. He is in a wheelchair and has a lot of issues but continues to get along fine with the good care he receives from my mom.
My father was killed in 1968 which was devastating to the whole family. My mother finished raising us by her self and was just about to get some much deserved time to just enjoy life when my brother got hurt. Needless to say, life has not been easy for her.
I have been an animal lover my entire life. When I was a little girl I used to dream of someday living on a horse ranch and having all the dogs I wanted. Well I never got my horse ranch although we did have some horses for a short time. But I did end up with a lot of dogs, which make me very happy. We also ended up with lots of parrots, which are not everyone’s cup of tea, but we love them and are fascinated by them.
Hopefully you read “Rudy’s Story” on the home page. That tells how I started making designer dog collars. I hope to get his debt paid off one of these days but with six dogs and two of them currently having health issues, my vet bills continue to climb so I may be making dog collars for many years.
I love designing and making my collars. I think every dog deserves to be loved and well cared for and I want them to look beautiful. I like having a hand in making that happen. I enjoy seeing pictures of my furry customers wearing their new collar and hearing about the dog and their family. I have made some wonderful new friends through working with them on the internet. I look forward to making many more new friends and helping to adorn many new necks as well as all those wonderful customers that we’ve helped in the past.
Having this web-site is a new and exciting venture for me and something that my customers have asked for. I hope you enjoy it and that it is helpful to you when you are ready for your furbabies next collar purchase.
Thank you again for all your support. I look forward to providing beautiful collars to your “kids” for many years to come.
